Ending the Season on a High!

How the season went.

We won the league! This was a huge accomplishment for me and my team. For me it felt extra special because this was my first season in an acutal portuguese championship.

Last few games.

The last few games were very intense. The third last game we played was against our rivals, so that means it was a derby and it was also an away game on their home turf, so we knew it was going to be extra hard. We ended uplosing 3-2 when our goalkeeper got a red card late in the game.

The second to last game we got to play in our proffesional teams stadium which is a grass feild and has big stands. I was rostered and got to play the last 40 mintues, so it was a very special moment for me. It was a very cool experience because it felt like we were the pro team, using there locker room, walking onto tne grass pitch, and playing in the big stadium with more fans than our usual games. It was extra special because we won 6-0. I felt great and played very well in this match.

Our last regular season match was a great game. I was in the starting eleven and played really well. By half-time we were up 2-0 with me being involved in both the goals that were scored. I also had 2 great shots on goal, but the keeper saved the first and I shot a big wide on the second. I was really hoping to get a goal and was taking every chance I could. All season, we had a bit of a rivalry with another team who had a very strong player who was tied with our top goal scorer for most goals scored in our league. At half time, we heard that the other player on the rival team had scored 7 goals, which would mean he’d beat our striker for the season. We all wanted our teammate to get that honour, so our coach told us to just give the ball to our striker every chance we could. So thats what we did and he ended up scoring 4 goals in the second half. After we found out that he tied with the other player for most goals in the season. I got subbed out in the 60th minute and was very happy with how I played in my last game. It was a great end to the regular season.

Whats next.

Whats next is since we won the league we get to play a championship game against the winners of the series 2 of our league. This game is on June 4th and should be a very intense game for all of us. If we win the game we will be champions of our league and will get a trophy.

For me, I end this season feeling very proud of what I’ve acomplished. Although I didn’t get to play as much as I would have liked, I am really proud that I even made this team in the first place and that I’ve had such a good experience. I have grown a lot as a player in terms of my strength, skills, speed and confidence as a player. I know I can play at this level and I enjoy it.

The big question for me in terms of what’s next is what do I really want. Do I want to continue on this path to keep playing. Or do I want to focus on other things. I guess this is part of the challenge of being 17 and seeing my adult future ahead of me. I have to decide what’s next, what gets me to my long-term goals and what should I do today to set myself up for the best possible future. So ending this year, I feel like I have more questions than answers. But I’m going to take the Summer to rest, enjoy time with friends and reflect on what I do next.
